26 April 2017: Draft PDF version of application emailed to Research Office for compliance review and feedback.
1 May 2017: Final version of application submitted to Research Office for endorsement and final submission. *do not submit the application until you have received feedback and have been advised to do so by the Research Office*
3 May 2017: Heart Foundation closing date

Key changes to 2017 application process

  • Applications are now submitted via an online application process.
  • Applicants are required to collect Head of Department endorsement prior to submission.

Scheme description

The purpose of the Vanguard Grants is to provide funding to test the feasibility of innovative concepts in public health and/or health services (including clinical service delivery) which may lead to larger, more rigorous studies in the future.

Please note that this scheme is not intended to fund basic clinical or biomedical research.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen.
  • An applicant may only apply as Chief Investigator for up to two Vanguard Grants in any one year. There is no limit to the number of applications on which an individual can appear as an Associate Investigator.
